Folk Fest Visitors Meet the Folk Art Legends

 During the debut Folk Fest Show in 1994, the now famous, Meet-Artist-Party was instituted. Unique personalities such as Howard Finster, Leroy Almon, Lanier Meaders, R.A. Miller, Mose Tolliver, Ned Cartledge, C.J. Meaders, W.C. Rice, Archie Byron were all in attendance in the early years.  In the past decade, all of these artists have passed away.  Visitors will never forget this rare forum Folk Fest provided over the years to meet these folk art icons and even gather a signature and a sermon from the legendary Reverend Howard Finster. 

Even with the passing of the older self-taught art generation, the Folk Fest Meet-the-Artist Party continues to delight folk art enthusiasts.  Visitors now have the the opportunity to visit with Woodie Long, Charlie Lucas, Bernice Sims, Michael Crocker, Lorenzo Scott, Cornbread, Mary Proctor, Jake McCord, Chris Clark, Annie Wellborn, Myrtice West whose work we have grown to love and is now gracing the pages of folk art publications alongside the last generation of notables.
